The answer is Avast Undoubtedly. And I use and recommend Avast Internet Security. But AVG is improving a lot. The 2012 version is lot better than than the 2011. AVG Was going down hill. But it is picking the path and I can say both are better than Norton, McAfee or like that AV soft.
LOL… looks like there’s an AVG fanboy lurking – thumbing down all the intelligent answers.
Avast is so far-and-above better than AVG it’s not even a fair comparison.
Avast’s detection rates are far superior to AVG, not to mention that Avast has the ability to run a boot-time scan (which *none* of the others have; and which is more effective than scanning in safe mode.)
As far as suites go, with all of the peripherals being equal, Avast still wins based on the antivirus.

Had AVG on my machine but later got infected . The virus caused my machine to stop once in a while so moved to avast and the problem was solved. So i guess avast is better.
That’s easy, Avast, and Avast…Not just my opinion, you can google comparisons.
I would definitely go with avast either the free version or AIS.
