Alright, so I have Quest for my internet modem. We recently got this one, I’d say maybe 5 months back or so. It used to run at great speeds, but lately, it takes a good minute or two to load a simple page, about 5 minutes to load one 30 second video, and it just lacks the usual speed it used to have.
I have tried ALL of the following –
Disk Defragment
Disk Clean-up
Internet history deletion
Recycle Bin cleared
Scanned for viruses
Scanned for spyware
Scaned for malware
Checked wires, internet lines, and switched ethernets
Website scanning
Security settings
Firewall status
Updates
I’m really not sure why it’s doing this. I stay off all of the potentially ‘bad’ websites. I do use youtube, facebook and deviantart a lot. I just want to get this resolved.
Any answers will be great, thank you so much for reading!

it doesnt seem like the problem lies with u, contact your internet service provider to find out if theyre having any issues (like lag, etc.) or maybe they’re just shaping your usage to cut costs (remember we’re in some recession kinda thing) . if you’re using WiFi, then it could also be the strength of the signal from your modem to your laptop, if thats the case, try lessening the distance.
the most probably cause however, seems to be that your service provider is shaping you, contact them, the issue will be resolved.
you need to post more info :
1. on the bottom there is two small computers and you can right click and open network connections
and post here the speed, activity …etc. this might give more clues.
2. You can try to reset the modem
3. What is speed of your ISP and Moem, if modem cannot handle ISP speed you could have issues
4.Call your ISP to find out if the modem is compatible with their network
First try using another computer to access the internet and see if the speeds increase. If they don’t then it’s the ISP or their equipment. I’m not familiar with quest, but if it’s cable, sometimes they can put too many people on the loop and if they all get online simultaneously, the bandwidth will decrease dramatically.
If your speed returns to normal using the second computer, then the issue is with your original computer. U may have picked up malware or a virus. U might want to download and install “Malwarebytes” and see if it picks up anything. It’s free.
Another good tool is “Spybot Search and Destroy” also free.
