Can Someone View My Desktop?

By Networking Security Posted in: firewall security

hi all, i am not a computer expert and i am worried some one is hacking my computer and can see what I am browsing and doing on my desktop. Is this possible? I some times use a vpn so am I vulnerable while using vpn?
my system is windows xp sp3 (genuine copy)
I am using kaspersky internet security with firewall enabled.
Is it possible or am i just being worried for nothing?
any answer is truly appreciated
thanks

  1. Dr.Qutub Says

    1) Turn off remote assistance.
    2) Turn on firewall.
3)Kasperysky is a good antivirous, and can warn you of unauthorised access to your machine.
In spite of the the above, anyone knowing your IP/Node address can excess your computer.
Anyway the chaces of attacks are reduced as your antivirus is one of the best. Follow above three steps.

    It is possible, but unlikely.
Kaspersky Internet Security is good, so if you aren’t constantly downloading suspicious stuff, you should be fine, especially with that firewall up.
The AV will keep the viruses and stuff away, and the firewall will keep the actual hackers away (they’ll usually give up because it’s not worth the effort of getting through it, and go find a different target).

Yes it is. One time I was away from my comp and I heard the mouse click and the windows prompt. I came back over and someone elsewhere was using my comp. Go to your control panel and turn off remote assistance. That should do it. And put a piece of tape over your web cam

Is it too important/necessary for some one. U have not mentioned what exactly makes u to feel so. Run Kaspersky & MBAM.
Secure yourself in the browser settings.
