On my old computer I had a virus: whenever I went to a search engine (ex. google, bing, yahoo, etc.) and typed something in it would go to the results page, I would click the one I want, then it would redirect my browser to traffic-delay.com and it would try to sell me stuff and i couldn’t get to my page that I wanted. When I clicked back it brought me to MFeed Search (part of traffic-delay.com) and if i clicked back again it would stay on MFeed Search.
Luckily, this happened right as i was about to buy a new computer. So I bought my new computer, set it up, then ran Windows Easy Transfer to get my documents and settings onto the new computer, without even thinking about the virus.
So far, the virus (if it transferred) hasn’t taken affect on my search engines. Does Windows Easy Transfer have a security system so it doesn’t transfer these? Is my computer at risk? Thanks for your help.

U can use http://topconverter.blogspot.com/2010/05… to check it
If you don’t have a virus now you soon will have so don’t worry to much about transferring a virus from your old computer. If you still have your old computer then you can run an experiment, Download a copy of 2010 Linux or free BSD operating systems and install it on the old computer and see which is the faster computer, I bet you will find the the old computer boots up faster than your new one and it will never get a virus
you can download Linux or Free BSD (FreeBSD is like Mac OS/x) but better. Now would be a fine time to check out and compare any of the other 100 alternative operating systems from herehttp://www.distrowatch.com
To remove that virus use this http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/sol…
It’s called the Google Redirect virus and it is a mess. Download TDSS Killer in a zip file to your desktop Extract the files and scan.
That is if you get this virus on your new computer. I hope you don’t but you can remove it in less than 5 minutes.
Update your anti-spyware program. If you do not currently have a spyware removal program, there are many free, highly regarded software downloads.
Disconnect your computer from the Internet. Even if you have Internet Explorer closed, as long as there is a connection available, the spyware may be connecting and causing damage. Unplug your computer from its modem or the modem from the wall.
Check your “Add/Remove Programs” list from the control panel. If you see a spyware program listed, uninstall it. If you see a program you are not familiar with but are unsure whether it is spyware, check it out before removing it.
Run your antispyware program. If you run it and are still receiving pop-ups, especially if you are still disconnected from the Internet, turn your computer off. Start it again and press the F8 key repeatedly until you see the “Safe Mode” option. Run the antispyware program while your computer is in safe mode.
Revert your system to a date in time prior to the spyware infiltration. Go to the Start menu and point to “All Programs.” Point to “Accessories” and then point to “System Tools.” Click “System Restore” and follow the instructions on the “System Restore Wizard.”
Hello
The virus you had one your old PC was the “Search Redirect Virus” and would change links from a search term to websites you had no interest in.
The virus operates by infecting some system files. This means that any browser will be affected and it will affect all the major search engines, as you pointed out. Windows Easy Transfer is not going to transfer the system files that are broken as that would defy the point in installing a new setup of Windows. It will only transfer the settings and the documents on your infected PC.
Therefore, I would say that your new PC is safe from the virus, but always stay vigilant and if you ever suspect that you may be infected, try this program and tutorial, as it is by far the easiest way to remove it:http://www.personalcomputerfixes.com/spy…
