Do You Think Anti-virus Software Companies Create Viruses To Stay In Business?

By Networking Security Posted in: Security Products

I’m always a bit suspicious as to whether some of the computer viruses out there have actually been created by anti-virus software companies themselves, so that people will buy their product and then pay ongoing subscription fees to keep it up to date. What do you think?
Also, what do you think about Spybot or Microsoft Essentials Security? Effective or lame?

Actually, yes. They probably do that. Think about it: They come up with a new software that is guaranteed to stop all viruses but then very soon we find out about a new virus that can beat said new software. Coincidence? I think not. Its an endless cycle of greed.

I haven’t used a paid for antivirus in 2 years, its all common sense. (and free antivirus just in case.)

Of course they do. It’s all about money in the end, to those kinds of peoples. I personally would go with Avast.
