First of all i have to say, I do have a job. I just got over a break up and I am staying with my mom :–(. I was looking for some additional help to find me and my son a place. I am living off of only my income, my sons father is deceased and didn’t work enough quarters for me to get social security for my son. I just needed to know how it works and the amount of rent I would have to pay. I make $2742.40 a month before taxes. If anyone has any information I’d really appreciate it.

In a subdized housing project the rent is usually based on income. Others like Section 8 will pay market rent and you can live where you want, providing the landlord accepts Section 8. Contact your local housing authority and/or http://www.gosection8.com and search by city.

You should state where you live. You make more money than I do with a family of 3 and I don’t get any subsidized housing. I live in a rural community, though, I know housing is much higher if you live in a metro area.
Your local Department of Human Services is the place to go to find out if you qualify.
I doubt you will qualify, you earn too much. You earn 32908.80 a year. The limits for a family of 2 vary by city in Maryland, but the highest is 24k for Washington DC. Most of them are around 16k, half of what you make.
