I found out what hosting is I know what websites are of course, who doesnt? But I want to make a website with membership deals and a basic login system and basic design and then when I research godaddy it starts talkign about: Bandwigth, Security, SSL, MySQL Database, 10 GB Space and Premium DNS… I just want a website with php, html and javascript why do i need all this stuff like SSL gb space etc…

Fred,
Good questions. Hosting is like a storage unit on the internet that holds all of the files you created to make your website. The domain name is like the street address and unit number for that storage unit. So when people type in the address, your files are referenced, and your site is displayed. The “10GB Space” references you see are relate to the amount of files you can put into that storage unit. If you’re going to have a very data-rich site, you’ll need more storage. SSL refers to a security certificate. If you’re going to be processing payments via your site or receiving any information from visitors, you want to be able to ensure that the transaction of this information is secure. That’s where the SSL comes in.
I hope some of that helped. I would, however, recommend contacting our Sales & Support Team. They’re available 24×7 via http://x.co/support and they can listen to what it is you want to do with your site and let you know the products you’ll need to make that happen.
Sincerely,

GoDaddy Social Media
GoDaddy are one of the top providers of hosting (even though their prices are not so cheap – you can find better deals!). Usually you won’t need a huge storage space unless your website contains millions of pages or data of millions of users!
Also, like the dude from goDaddy explained, most chances are that you won’t need SSl cert. (something that cost extra and needs to be renewed periodically).
When you try to buy a basic package, like any “good” merchant – they try to make you pay for “extras” – most of which you don’t really need.
That said, I can give you one important advice:
If you want to create and maintain a website – you should start by googling all the terms and see what each of them means – as you’ll probably have to “get your hands dirty” and learn a lot of stuff, such as – how to install/maintain database, install utilities & preform maintenance tasks on your web-site server etc- which is not trivial!
If what you want is only to create a few pages and make it available online – i can recommend on checking out wix.com (I know a couple of people who are clueless about IT/DB/programming that use their services)
