Is Vanity A Clue We Are Identifying With The Temporal And Therefore Not The Truth/eternal/changeless?

How is vanity connected to fear and conditional acceptance?
Is there really any line of demarcation between wearing a little makeup and a full blown mask? lol? if we get a sense of satisfaction/security or conditional good feeling from looks… I mean isn’t it all stemming from the same thing…fear of some sort? I need to finally find something that resonates or at least finally find the courage to accept what already resonates….I am not at peace within and no matter what I try to say to myself to cover it up won’t work…I am not at peace when I wear makeup and I am not at peace when i don’t lol!!! ???? I know you all have helped me several times on this issue before, but nothing is ‘sticking’…no solutions that resonate I suppose? I guess I am the only one who can dig for an answer, but ugh…nothing surfaces. When I wear makeup I feel pretty, but I also feel like I am, on some level, hurting myself…like blocking myself from realizing unconditional acceptance, and not only that, but feeding a machine of society that has an insatiable appetite.

Love, sometimes I feel you are a little hard on yourself … You are a beautiful soul, and whether you wear a little make up sometimes, or not, is of no import compared to who you are.
My thoughts are that whatever makes you feel freer and more comfortable, then do it. If wearing make up allows you to feel freer and less aware of, and more comfortable in, your physical body, then do it.
There is no right or wrong in it.
It is not possible to completely non-identify with the temporal. We wear acceptable clothing, we wear shoes and don’t go to work bare-footed. We bathe, we wash our hair, we trim our nails, we brush our teeth.
On days you feel like wearing make-up, then wear it. This is our playground …. we can have fun! We can play! Play at wearing makeup! Why not! Life is to be enjoyable and joyous. Anything that causes us to feel other than that does not help us spiritually.
It could only be considered vanity, if you feel it is vanity. Of itself it is a neutral concept. It is only you who would be attaching a particular meaning to it. Let that meaning go and just allow yourself to be whatever emerges.
What blocks us more, is getting caught up in the “should I”, “shouldn’t I”.
Who you are will shine through with or without make-up. Nice animal friendly make up of course!
If you could ask Mooji this question, what do you think he would say? I’m just wondering how he would answer. I’ve noticed sometimes he does his hair up in nice little plaits. Maybe he just feels like doing that on some days …. so he does!
    much love to you

Nail on the head. All states of mind and heart that are mistaken understanding of self lead into the world of form and out of the formless Joy.

Yes, if you think, it includes unawareness and ignorance.

This has been on my mind from time to time. I formed a chart for ego judgment from nothing up to irrelevent, relevent, vital, and up to everything. Vanity is that sliping away of self-identity into emptiness, where as pride is being full of the self. One is letting go the other is finding something to hold onto. There is a circulation of information that flows into the mind which comes out as ego judgement of one’s state of mind — in self-reflection.
You will have an easy time accepting your self the more you are acceptent. If you really compare your identity with this vainess of makeup, cover up, than you will easily reject yourself. But what is there too it really? Can you just know that you are yourself accepting yourself both with and without the makeup? What are you accepting your beauty, your self image in both modes? So maybe accepting the underlying nature of the identity will be assuaging.
    Take care.
    Josh.

Spiritual life is simple for the simple and very complicated for the complex human beings like us.
Why are you worried about temporal and vanity and conditional acceptance.
If you can see the Divine Lord seated in the hearts of all beings who is guiding each and every one of us onward towards our destiny, then you have nothing to fear. You will be totally transparent to everyone, with or without make up or mask. Your divine beauty will shine through you.
You will start doing selfless acts for every life you touch because you will be serving the Divine Lord seated within that person’s heart.
Whatever you do in life will be an unbroken prayer to the Divine Lord. So don’t do it for yourself (it inflates the ego) and don’t do it for others (it won’t make them happy anyways) but do it for the Divine seated within their hearts (that is sacrifice), then you shall be at peace with the world.
