Okay, I’ve looked through some of the websites and I cannot find a simple yes or no answer.
I have been covered by All Kids, an Alabama medical insurance plan for families that make to much money for medicaid but are still below the line of poverty. My dad is a single parent who gets all his income strictly from Social Security Death Benefits for me and my sister. When I turned 18, my half of the social security stopped and so we became eligible for Medicaid. I am a full time student without a job and I was wondering if I will receive Medicaid until my 19th birthday or if it will continue until I am no longer a full time student? A straight-forward answer would be appreciated. Thank you!

AllKids is the CHIPS program – childrens health insurance program. Children’s Medicaid in Alabama, runs until the child turns 19. There’s no extension if you’re in college.
So, then we turn to STRAIGHT medicaid – the family income has to be at or under 100% of the federal poverty level, however, the FAMILY only includes the parent(s) and children UNDER 18. So the day you turn 18, you don’t qualify under the FAMILY plan for straight medicaid, unless YOU get pregnant.
Keep in mind, any “scholarships” or “financial aid” you get, to keep you in school as an adult, count as income to you – and will most likely put you over the eligiblity limit for Medicaid.
Hopefully not. I’m tired of tax money paying for people’s health care
