Netgear Router Problem?

By Networking Security Posted in: Network Security

Alright so basically I got a Netgear router recently. I’ve been using it to connect to xbox live but recently I’ve been getting constantly disconnected, that is if I can even connect at all. My iPod also cannot connect to the router for more than 5 minutes at a time, after which it disconnects. The only thing that seems to work is my Windows 7 PC, which is connected to the router via a network cable. My router security is set to WPA2-PSK [AES] but I’m not sure if that’s the problem.
Thanks to anyone who can help, since I haven’t a clue why it keeps doing this.
Also, I’ve tried resetting the router, which doesn’t work half the time anyway.
Cheers
(PS: The router is a Netgear WNR1000v3 )

    1) Try port triggering, with these ports (taken from my setup):http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/7638/…
    2) If that doesn’t fix it, I recommend you change your wifi broadcasting channel to a non-overlapping channel (which would be channels 1, 6, and 11).
    3) I’d also recommend to turn off the following settings on your router (this is taken from a Linksys E1000 but should apply to yours – the language might differ slightly):
Make sure that “Filter Anonymous Internet Requests” is disabled, this security setting has caused me frequent disconnects in the past. For the Linksys control panel, this was under firewall.
    4) Download appropriate firmware and update.
To fix any possible FW issues.

You could try and change the channel the router is broadcasting on.
