By Networking Security Posted in: pc security

My mom just bought norton antivirus for her computer (that works up to 3 pcs). And i dont know if i should just use the antivirus or buy the internet security. would it be a waste of money if i did? are both programs similar?

If you hust get the A/V then you need aditional software for nalware, Firewall et al. Go with the NIS which has everything in the one package.

When I used Norton at work, it slowed down my computer quite a bit, so I don’t really understand why people use it when there are other programs that are just as effective, if not more. If your computer doesn’t run slower with Norton, then I’d say Norton IS is better when you use the web a lot, because it does offer more protection. However, you could check other options out there and see if another program could do all the same things without the bulk. Here is a good article about AV software for 2012 – http://www.auslogics.com/en/articles/wha…
    Good luck!

To answer your question, Norton Internet security provides better protection because it has more features. For instance, NIS blocks spam and has identity protection, while NA doesn’t. They are both pretty similar other than those two things.
However, in my opinion, it’s unnecessary to buy an anti-viruses. I use Microsoft security essentials and malwarebytes which are both free programs. Norton is famous for slowing down computers ALOT. Many people even think Microsoft SE is more powerful than Norton in detecting/blocking/removing viruses. Malwarebytes is a powerful antimalware, which I would recommend even if you did end up buying Norton.
