I’m 14 a female and i have been recently thinking i want to join the Air force. Please dont say your to young to decide on what you want to do because, its just something I’ve been thinking about doing after high school. Anyways I have looked at security forces, still photography and a few other jobs but my main job i would want is security forces. When i graduate high school it will be 2016 because I’ll be going to AB-tech early college. I will graduate with 64 or more college credits with a two year associates degree. So i have a few questions below. Thanks for your answers!
1) I’ve heard the air force is down sizing a lot by 2016 is this true or is it just for the USAFA?
2) Will i be able to join as an officer with to college credits and 2 year associates degree?
3) Is security forces a good job for someone who likes work?
4) How is air force life after BMT and tech school?
5) Does security forces deploy alot? ( which i dont mind)
6) Are females treated better in the air force than other branches?
7) What time would i have to wake up in the morning if i went in for security forces?
Can i live in an apartment on base if im not married?
9) What are air force bases like?
10) Im good with people being around me and meeting new people but I’m a little shy and not the best at making friends, Is it easier to make friends on base?
11) Do females have to wear skirts on graduate day?
12) When do i get my duty station?
13) Whats air force like in general?
14) Do airmen wear blues on Monday?
Thank you, and yes i am going to talk to a recruiter.

1. All branches of the military are down sizing, but they will still have to recruit in order to maintain their force levels.
2. You must have a baccalaureate degree to qualify for a commissioning program.
3. SF career field has one of the lowest retention rates for First-Term Airmen; that’s because the job sucks, until you get some rank!
4. It’s life. You work your shift, then do what you want to do.
5. Yes
6. They’re treated just like everybody else.
7. Depends on your shift; you might be waking up at 10 PM to get to a midnight shift.
8. You will live in a dorm room. Depending on the base, you might not have a roomate, but don’t count on it.
9. Depends on the base.
10. People are people. If you can’t make friends now, being in the Air Force is not going to make a difference.
11. If they don’t graduate in ABUs.
12. About 2 – 3 weeks prior to graudating from Tech School.
13. Too broad a topic to answer here.
14. Depends on the MAJCOM and your AFSC. If you’re SF and guarding an ECP, you won’t be wearing blues.
q

6. Not especially.
7. Depends upon what shift you are assigned to.
8. Not until you are at least an E-4 or have 2 years on base.
9. Varied… some are awesome, some not so much. In general… a self-contained little town.
10. Depends upon the person.
11. ?
12. In tech school
13. Again, varies based on your career field and leadership. Basically… you go to work, you do your job, you work out, you go to bed, repeat. Yes, you will have free time, but some more than others.
14. Yes
