I earned my degree in sociology in 1994 and have never used it for jobs. I am desperately trying to land a job in a field other than security guard but to no avail. Can age discrimination be a reason? Is 47 too old in terms of career change?

It’s called a dress code. And I wouldn’t even allow such a person into my place of business. If I can’t see your ID, and if the security cameras can’t see your ID, and you wear a gown big enough to conceal a weapon, then I’d rather be safe than sorry.
