Long story short, I got an error on my PC (running Windows Vista) that I’ve been infected with 27 viruses/Trojans etc. I’m freaked out! The timing is horrible as I was going to back up everything on my PC that day and update my security software (you know try to be ready for the new year…out with the old in with the new). I’m pretty sure I know how I got it, but I have no idea what to do now!
I shut my PC down, and I haven’t been on since. I’m scared that when I reboot it, everything will be gone. Can anyone provide some assistance on what to do?
Vista keeps telling me to purchase an upgraded security service to actually remove the malware or whatever, but I’m not going to put ANY of my personal info in at this point with the possibility of it being stolen since someone is potentially scanning my every move!
Any assistance in recommending steps to take to remove these hazardous items, recommended FREE virus/trojan removal programs would be appreciated!
In addition, at this time, it appears my PC won’t let me access the internet because it may be “dangerous” because of the threats currently to my computer. I’m not sure how to overcome this if I may need to download something to remove these items.
THANKS IN ADVANCE; ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED!!!

You probably have the Vista AV 2012 fake program on the computer…use this removal guide to remove it….http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-re…
How do you know you have 27 viruses/trojans? Do you have an anti-virus software?
If you don’t, download and run avast! anti-virus. That should find the viruses that you “think” are on your computer. Then, download and use MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. Run a “Full System Scan” with that. That should pretty much solve your problem.
Hope this helps!

you need to just scan with good anti virus and remove the virus.
I don’t get viruses on my own computer, but one of my coworkers had particularly nasty viruses on both his home and work computers lately. These were the kind of virus that actually takes steps to prevent removal. When Windows is beyond repair, all you can do is copy off all of your important data and then wipe the hard drive and reinstall.
But, some viruses will make that difficult. First, unplug the computer from the network. Then go ahead and boot it and see if it works well enough so that you can burn a CD or copy files to a USB drive. Try to only copy documents, photos, videos, and music – those files are rarely infected. Copy program files only if they can’t be replaced from CD or by re-downloading them.
If that’s successful, then you can boot from a Windows CD to reformat the drive and reinstall Windows. Be sure to un-plug any external drives before reinstalling. You’ll then want to make sure the new installation has up-to-date virus protection before you start restoring your files.
If the virus is bad enough that it won’t let you back up your files, then you need to either boot a recovery CD that will let you copy your files off (these are rare), or take out your hard drive and put it in another computer with a working Windows installation (only for professionals).
