I’ve had my laptop now for over a year and I’ve never had a single virus on it according to Avast Free Antivirus which oddly enough is quite worrying. How do I know if Avast is actually working?
So anyway, my question is this: What programs should I have running?
By that I mean so I need separate antivirus.com”target=”_blank”rel=”external”title=”fave anti-virus” >anti-virus, anti-malware and firewall programs and is there any other types of security I need?
At the moment I have Avast free, Windows Defender and the firewall that comes with Windows 7.
So if I do need more programs, which ones would work best?

If you want free then I recommend Avast , superantispyware and Malwarebytes. coupled with Comodo firewall They are all free for personal use . It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly.
Use Microsoft Security Essentials, it actually replaced Windows Defender. It is both Anti Virus and Malware software and use the Windows Firewall. If this doesn’t work for you like it should, then consider third party software. I’ve never had an infected computer, so it tends to make me wonder what is is that people are doing that they get infected computers.
