Avira professional antivirus is now willing to offer me 1 year subscription for 20 dollars. That is the lowest price an antivirus can go and for highly reputed AV like Avira, this is as good as steal. But I already purchased AVG internet security for computer. When my subscription to online armor firewall (40 dollars an year) and avira premium (30 dollars an year) expired in December I found it too expensive to spend 70 dollars again for another year. So I went with AVG internet security 2012 for about 55 dollars an year. Now a month later avira gave me offer for 20 dollars an year (down from 30) and online armor gave me offer for 25 dollars an year (down from 40). But its too late. At the same time I am getting discount deals from zone alarm, ashampoo etc etc. Funny these discounts start after a month of subscription expiration. Why don’t they offer it when subscription expires? Its no use now

There is a term for this, it’s known as Sod’s Law. If you look at life in general it applies to everything. Special offer on my £120 carpet cleaner, £30 off and a free bottle of shampoo. Three days after I ALREADY bought it. Signed up for Virgin Media internet and Cable package. Two weeks later free offer of a second box for upstairs use. that’s life mate, sorry.
If you are using Windows simply install “Microsoft Essential security” – it’s for free.
I can’t give an explanation why you receive such offers only after you’ve bought a different one.
I just want to point out that there’s really no product that can protect you 100%. There will always be misses and false positives. I used to have a paid antivirus solution (Kaspersky) for 3 years. However, after reading the reports of independent antivirus reviewers like Virus Bulletin 100 and AV Comparatives, I began to believe that free AV products can be as effective as most paid products. Take a look at these reports:http://www.av-comparatives.org/images/st…http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/latest_com…
You will notice in the AV Comparatives report that Avira has a high detection rate. Another free AV that performed well was Avast. AVG and MSE fell behind the two. You could have saved a lot more if you just used the free version of either Avira or Avast and bought a lifetime license of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro for less than $25. I you need an excellent firewall software, you could have used the free Comodo Firewall but disabled its AV feature to prevent conflict with existing AV installed on your computer. Even ZoneAlarm can’t beat Comodo when it comes to firewall. The only problem I see with Comodo Firewall is that a lot of new users and non-techies might find it too intrusive so they prefer lesser quality ones.
