Iam setting up a home network. And this happen quite a few times in the past, but never really knew what the issue was. One wireless computer is not connecting. It does have a firewall which i disabled. I also tried to ping the router. Iam using wireless g broadband linksys router.. WPA personal is my security. Like I said all other computers are working except one. And it does connect but only on unsecured connection.. What the.. any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

You might need to replace the wireless interface on that computer.
wireless chipsets get made in theri millions
once punched out thats it
if then the security methods change a bit then that often means
older chipsets simply cannot talk to newer ones
there was an update to WPA-2 that means if you set security to
WPA-2 then some wireless cards simply cannot talk reliably
to the chipset in the router.
Use WEP which never changed and you should be ok.
Also some chipsets like intel 2200bg implement power saving, and
many routers just flip out when they encounter that feature.
this feature should be disabled in the advanced settings for the card
a workaround is described on the intel site. No doubt other newer
wireless chipsets have similar problems with older routers.
hope that helps.
get an upto date router
get an upto date wireless card.
Try going to your network and sharing center. Then click manage wireless networks. Delete your home network from the list. Then secure your wireless router, then try connecting to it again.
I’ve had the same problem before. I had an old network then we changed the password, but when it tried to connect it wouldn’t prompt me for the new password. So I deleted it and connected to it again, then it worked fine.
